Voices of Lod
Sahi&Astchina
Sahi&Astchina have lived in Lod for the last 13 years and have always been close friends. Both women arrived to Israel from village communities in Ethiopia and lived in Qiryat Gat for a few years before making their families’ homes in Lod. They talk about the many challenges facing Lod and say that it has long been a hard place to live. Pointing at the Arab-Jewish Chicago Community Center (Mosaic: Lod Multicultural Center) they speak about feeling more comfortable there than ever before and think it is important that changes happening in the neighbourhood make all residents feel “more at home.”
